Koenraad De Smedt
Koenraad De Smedt is the national coordinator for CLARIN in Norway and leads the CLARINO consortium. He is currently the chair of the National Coordinators’ Forum and one of the directors of CLARIN ERIC. As chair of the NCF he leads the cooperation and communication among all national coordinators.
Koenraad is professor of computational linguistics at the University of Bergen, Norway, since 1995. He studied linguistics in Antwerpen, worked as a researcher and lecturer in Nijmegen, where he obtained his PhD, and was a lecturer in Leiden before moving to Norway.
He has published in a wide range of computational linguistics subjects, including natural language generation, inheritance-based models, automatic proofreading and treebanking. He has participated in several national and international collaborative projects in research and development and in research infrastructure. He has also led three consecutive researcher training projects in the Marie Curie Actions. His profile with links to publications can be found here.
