New discovery service
An improved (beta) discovery service has been connected to the Component Registry for several weeks, with positive feedback. We will now be updating the central discovery service, on Tuesday 18 September at 10:00 CEST. A couple of minutes of downtime are expected. No action is required from the Service Providers that are using the central discovery service – the configuration to use the central discovery service will remain the same.
Alpha harvest viewer
Recently the static overview of harvested metadata records has been replaced by a dynamic web application that allows an in-depth inspection of the harvesting process. While it is an early version (not optimized in terms of user interface and speed), this new tool can help metadata providers to get a better insight in the harvesting process.

As tradition demands, many centre representatives and developers gathered in Utrecht last June at the Centre Meeting. All presentations and background documents are available at the event webpage – so even if you could not make it, you can still get an idea about the main subjects and discussions.
Maintenance announcements
CLARIN HAIP maintenance: Monday 17 September, between 10:00 and 16:00 CEST
We will migrate our central High Availability IP (HAIP) address, which is used for our reverse proxy serving the .clarin.eu subdomains.This change will make our HAIP available simultaneously in more than one geographic zone, increasing the redundancy of our infrastructure.
During the operation no downtime is expected. However browser sessions might expire unexpectedly, with potential impact on the CLARIN website and the Trac – if you are editing a page. Please make sure you have saved any edit on this services prior to the maintenance window.
VLO maintenance: Thursday 20 September, between 13:00 and 15:00 CEST
An update to the will be carried out. Within this time slot, the VLO (at https://vlo.clarin.eu) will not be available for some time.
BBAW maintenance affecting all services: Sunday 16 September, between 13:00 and 18:00 CEST
BAS services: from Friday 14 September (23:30 CEST) to Monday 17 September (06:00 CEST), all BAS services will be down due to a major power line reconstruction.
FAQ: Can I offer my OAI-PMH endpoint over https instead of http?
Yes. We realize the official specification does not allow this, but in practice there is no reason why this would pose a problem. Note that the B-centre requirements will be updated to clarify this.
