CLARIN Annual Conference 2016

The CLARIN Annual Conference is the main annual event for those working on the construction and operation of CLARIN across Europe.
This year the conference will take place from the 26th to the 28th of October 2016 in Aix-en-Provence, France.

B-centres in Slovenia, Norway and the Czech Republic

Congratulations to the CLARIN.SI, CLARINO and our LINDAT/CLARIN colleagues! The CLARIN.SI Language Technology Centre and the CLARINO Bergen Center have now been officially recognized as CLARIN B Centres. Additionally, LINDAT/CLARIN was re-assessed successfully.

What is happening at....CLARIN Lithuania

At the end of December 2015 CLARIN-LT has celebrated their first anniversary of Lithuania joining CLARIN . To commemorate this event a seminar was organized to overview the activities and achievements that were made by the CLARIN-LT consortium after Lithuania’s one year of membership in CLARIC ERIC. Additionally, CLARIN-LT also launched their website www.clarin-lt.lt. At the end of January 2016 this will be the portal where users can access the repository and will be able to deposit and download language resources and language processing tools. The Sentiment of Emoijs at CLARIN Slovenia

An article by Petra Kralj Novak et al describes an analysis of 70,000 tweets in 13 languages, in which they assigned a sentiment score and neutrality level to 751 emoji, the popular characters which feature in much on-line communication. The research has attracted widespread attention, with an article in Motherboard and an article in the Daily Mail.

Nordic CLARIN Network meeting

The Nordic CLARIN Network (coordinated by the University of Copenhagen) is organizing an annual meeting and workshop in Oslo on March 14 and 15 (right before the inaugural Digital Humanities in the Nordic Countries conference). The special theme for this workshop is “Big data and text analytics in humanities research infrastructures”. The objectives are to share methods and tools covering the need for big data approaches and text analytics through CLARIN centers, and to demonstrate the use of such methods and tools by CLARIN users on real research problems.

Conference on Language Technologies and Digital Humanities In Slovenia

CLARIN.SI is co-organising an event that combines the 10th Language Technologies Conference with the new and emerging field of Digital Humanities in Slovenia. The first CFP has just been published and the conference will take place end of September 2016 in Ljubljana. While the conference has a national and regional focus, papers from other countries are also welcome.

Call for papers: FedCSIS 2016 

The Federated Conference on Computer Science and Information Systems (FedCSIS) cordially invites you to consider contributing a paper to their Annual International Multi-Conference.
The FedCSIS Multi-conference consists of diverse events, including conferences, symposia,workshops, dissemination events, special sessions). Each Event may run over any span of time within the conference dates (from half-day to four days). FedCSIS provides a platform for bringing together researchers, practitioners and academia to present and discuss ideas, challenges and potential solutions on established or emerging topics related to research and practice in computer science and information systems.
The conference will be held September 11-14, 2016 in Gdańsk, Poland.
