CLARIN Membership: criteria and procedures
Criteria for CLARIN membership
- members are legal entities located in EU or associated countries
- they should be willing and able to actively contribute to the goals of CLARIN by
- making available language resources, tools or specific expertise
- or by acting as users of such resources and tools
- they should have sufficient critical mass to participate in the CLARIN related activities
- the director of the organisation should express support for the request for membership
Procedure
- candidate members complete the membership application form
- the application form is received by the Executive Board
- the Executive Board performs a first check on eligibility, completeness or duplication
- the Executive Board contacts the national CLARIN contact point in the candidate member’s country and asks for advice
- the Executive Board decides about the application and informs the candidate and the national contact point
Rights of members
- employees (including PhDs) of member sites can
- register at the CLARIN site and get access to the member compartment of the internal website
- participate in CLARIN working groups and get access to the relevant parts of the internal site
- participate in CLARIN working group meetings
- sign up for the mailing list for members
Appeals and exceptions
- rejected candidates can resubmit their case for discussion by the Executive Board
- the Executive Board can decide to give organisations that are not members the same status as members if it serves the interests of CLARIN
